The Federal Court recognizes an exclusive native title claim in Pilbara, allowing the Yindjibarndi People to possibly seek compensation from Fortescue Metals Group.
The ruling in the landmark claim grants exclusive native title to the Yindjibarndi people over an area of land that also includes the Solomon Hub mine.

Full Court of the Federal Court dismisses an appeal by Fortescue Metals Group over the recognition of the Yindjibarndi People's exclusive native title to the Solomon Hub mines.
The Full Court concluded that, amongst other arguments, that the evidence of spiritual, cultural and social context may be relevant in evaluating the nature and significance of the activities undertaken on country.

High Court dismisses Fortescue Metals Group's special leave application in Yindjibarndi proceedings reaffirming exclusive native title over Solomon Hub.
Both the Yindjibarndi and the State of Western Australia opposed the special leave application, with the Full Court of the Federal Court decision based around the application of settled principle.
